California Energy Deregulation Offers Big Opportunity to Consumers & Agents Alike

With the new deregulation of the energy monopoly in California consumers can now pick an energy supplier that may offer them better rates, or even a fixed rate that can "be locked in" for up to three years.

Just image the possible savings long term along with knowing that your Electric bill will be stable, and not be fluctuating month to month, because energy prices tend to change every 15 minutes or so, and that is not a comforting thought for consumers or even businesses that rely heavily on electricity to operate on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.

BUSINESSES CAN NOW LOCK IN THEIR ELECTRICITY COSTS FOR UP TO THREE YEARS

Small, medium, and large businesses that rely heavily on & Electricity to keep their Enterprise up and running smoothly, are now able to "lock in" their Energy rates for up to three years with alternative energy providers.

The cost of energy can fluctuate every 15 minutes, and with some Energy providers looking to hike prices on Energy to consumers over the years to come, the comfort of knowing they now have a choice and have the opportunity to not only possibly save big on their electric bill, but also have the chance to "lock in" the costs over a three year period.

That's what smart businesses do with commodities like energy, sugar, wheat, oil, coffee and other commodities that affect their business and bottom line. The business buys futures contracts on the commodity that they need to lock-in thus guaranteeing the price of that particular commodity they are using to make a profit with in their daily business activities is stable, and will not hurt their bottom line on down the road in case demand way exceeds supply.

The Energy business is very big business, and in the past (like in California for example), there wasn't much of a choice. In other words, you either paid or you would be threatened with your energy being "cut off", or it would be "cut off" whether you liked it or not.

Now the "little guy" or small business Man or Women has a choice in the matter of who provides their electricity now in California, and that's a big switch from the monopoly that is currently in place, but will soon dissipate to competition in the coming years.

If you're your looking to make the switch from your current energy provider and live in a State such as California, you'll need to get on it now and submit a "Letter of Intent" to the Public Utilities Commission so you can do so when you're ready to make the change over, because the PUC only allows for a limited number of "LOI" for the year (i.e. only a limited number of customers can switch energy services for the year), and that could mean you're waiting in line to get the green light if you're letter of intent isn't in the PUC office ahead of the pack.

It may not be the next "gold rush", but it may very well be the next "Energy rush" by consumers and businesses alike here in California where I live and work, because the stakes are high, and it could be the difference between a single family being able to keep their monthly budget "in tack" or not.

Many families are feeling the burden of heavy debt, and with many people unemployed right now here in California, their home like millions before them are being foreclosed on by the banks in this current unstable economy, and that is unacceptable to many so the tough choices need to be made in all areas to save not only on energy, but food, health-care, entertainment and other areas in order to cut the monthly spending budget to the bone just to survive.

In conclusion, the sad fact is; the "middle class" is being crunched by big Government spending, higher taxes, and now social welfare health-care costs that will be put on them along with higher income bracket earners over the coming years. So the tough choices have to be made by middle class, and upper class Americans if they are to survive today's tax and spend Government's at all levels by cutting costs any way they can.

Energy is a big monthly expense, so it's about time a choice can be made in California to not only possibly save a substantial amount on electricity, but control it's cost as well for up to three years.
